Acropolis 2005 - International Tournaments, Athens (Greece)
 
	The "Acropolis" tournament is a traditional member of the Greek chess 
calendar.  "Acropolis" 2005 ventures to be the strongest edition ever! Apart from 
the top Greek chessplayers, the tournament also hosts participants from 
22 other countries. In total, 35 Grandmasters and 16 International 
Masters will play in the tournament. These include Womens World 
Champion Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria), former World Championship 
Candidate and No3 in the world rankings Andrei Sokolov (France), the 
legendary Grandmasters Smbat Lputian (Armenia) and Oleg Romanishin (Ukraine) 
and also last years winners, Thanos Mastrovasilis (Greece), Bartosz & 
Monika Socko (Poland).

Acropolis 2004 - International Tournaments, Athens (Greece)

 
The  Acropolis International Tournaments 2004 take place at the hotel President in Athensfrom the 16th until the 24th of November 2004.
The event includes  3 parallel tournaments, a mens closed tournament, a mens open, and a womens open
tournament. Especially, the mens open is expected to be a quite strong one as from the 60 players who are going to participate 15 are grandmasters.
The total prize for the 2 open tournaments is 12.000 Euros. The Acropolis Tournament, organized by the
 Greek Chess Federation, is one of the  most important chess events of our country as it attracts the attention of Greek chess elite. Moreover, during the last years it has adopted the character of a chess festival with a series of tournaments incorporated in a single
event.
